A Strangely Gooey Holiday

(1 customer review)

The smell of cookies and nog hangs heavy in the air, and there is a magical glow glistening in the ice crystals that cover the window panes; Wintersdance is but a few short days away! This wondrous celebration is beloved by nearly everyone across Zyathé, and even the household of the esteemed archmage, Alphinius Goo, is caught up in the holiday cheer. Yet the approach of the season each year fills the wizard with as much irritation as mirth. His wife’s favorite decorations were ensorcelled most wickedly many years ago by his rival, forcing Alphinius into a grueling battle to subdue the knickknacks that drains much of the fun of Wintersdance. He’s had enough! Fortunately, a band of adventurers have turned up on his doorstep just in time to retrieve the wanton adornments – but they’d best hurry, as Ms. Goo is on her way home, and expects to find the tower properly decorated!

    A Great Holiday Side Quest

This adventure is a great example Gooey Cube Product. The GM has two books to help run this side quest, the adventure book, and the GM Reference. The adventure book is well written and a very enjoyable read. The GM reference has the stats for each encounter with adjustments for the party that are very easy to use on the fly while running the side quest. The GM reference also has loads of tables for what is found in the basement to give even more flavor for the players. You will also have Handouts to help show the players what they are seeing or encountering, Item cards of what the players find, portraits of some of the NPCs encountered. And last but not least 2 sets of maps one for the GM and one for the players.

My experience running this adventure was very fun to run with plenty of opportunities for some joking and silliness. The extra information in the GM reference gave plenty of ideas to customize the adventure for my group. I look forward to running more Gooey Cube adventures for my players.
